CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
S.T.E.P. – Systemic Training for Effective Parenting
OBJECTIVES:
To provide education to parents in a class setting, teaching skills for developing more effective parenting by learning effective ways to relate to children, the purpose of the child’s behavior, how to reinforce unacceptable behavior, and concrete alternatives to abusive methods of discipline and control.
GOALS:
To improve parenting skills, and strengthen relationships between parent and child. To learn the reasons behind misbehavior, and ways to guide the child toward positive, productive behavior. To be able to help children use power more constructively by becoming involved in positive activities. To be able to motivate children to learn and contribute by building their self-esteem and teaching them responsibility.
